Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem

Suicide has become a widespread phenomenon especially after Bouzizi's suicide which was a spark for the popular revolution in Tunisia to overthrow the bygone regime . Suicide is a disease that spreads fast in many parts of the country which is an indication of the deep crisis inside the Tunisian society. There is a group of people who assume  that suicide is one of the ways to repudiate the prevailing conditions. They claim that killing oneself is due to the feeling of despair and hopelessness to make a change for the better. Such a frustration is so dangerous for a society that relies heavily on human resources in the absence of natural resources. Suicide is rife among the young stressing once more the hopeless psychological condition that young people are going through. In fact, there is no well-thought-out strategy that is able to frame and involve the young, give ear to their preoccupations and put too much confidence in them so that they could face difficulties, particularly the rising level of unemployment. Suicide is undoubtedly attributable to the accumulation of social, political and economic factors which resulted in an alarming rate of unemployment, grinding poverty, marginalization and exclusion. Suicide is socially, legally and religiously unacceptable. Islam has totally prohibited killing oneself intentionally considering such an act a big sin. Religiously speaking, the fact that suicide has risen alarmingly is traced back not only to the spiritual emptiness that the sinner (who commits suicide) is undergoing , but also to the lack of  a strong personality to encounter problems. The sinner believes wrongly that by killing himself/herself he will put an end to his emotional, material and social burdens and strains. This false assumption stems from ignorance and impatience. It's a surrender to despair. I think the government, the public, private and civil sectors have to assume full responsibilities to develop a clear and long- term strategy to further invest in human resources through a well-planned job-creation scheme. Freedom of speech should be organized and encouraged via associations, clubs , parties and political and social platforms. Democracy does not flourish unless there is a social, political and economic stability. It's a long -term training process that helps, to a large extent, keep the young away from pressure so that they could find their ways in the labyrinthine complexities of everyday life.
